Based on the belief that every child needs a safe, nurturing, and caring family, the El Paso County Department of Human Services and fellow community agencies are strongly committed to finding permanent homes for waiting children. In addition, El Paso County's Adoption Unit and Child Placement Agencies (CPAs) currently provides placement for foster care, group home care, treatment or adoption for county children. Child Welfare Statistics

  •  2.3 million children lived with kin (mostly grandparents) in 1999.
  •  Nearly 17,000 children were adopted by relatives in USA in 2008.
  • There are 468,000 US children in foster care.
  • 123,000 US children available for adoption.
  • In 2010 there were 365 waiting children in Colorado.
